This modification request seeks relief from Sections 313.1 (Fueled Equipment) and 314.4 (Vehicles) of the currently adopted fire code, which strictly regulate the indoor display of liquid- or gas-fueled vehicles but omit safety provisions for Electric Vehicles (EVs). The existing prescriptive requirements-such as limiting liquid fuel capacity and disconnecting traditional batteries-are fundamentally inapplicable to modern lithium-ion EV technology. In lieu of these provisions, we propose utilizing the 2024 International Fire Code (IFC) Section 1207.7 regarding Indoor Energy Storage Systems (ESS) as the governing standard to ensure the safe display of these vehicles.
