The system is being used to relocate excising underground utility conduit and piping from the area west of the excising hospital to the basement in association with construction of the new Howard University Building. Using this conduit system allows the project to avoid disturbing excising systems above the ceiling. The project requests a modification of the requirement for ceiling height clearance to permit protruding objects to infringe on the required 7'6"of clear headroom required by DCBC ? 1003.2.
