Building permit — alteration and repair
Several parts of repair/alteration include the following. NOTE: These alterations have been confirmed as acceptable and compatible with DOB Historic Buildings department.- Front bay window: Need to install a decorative check rail to make it appear as a 1/1 window. Currently it is a picture frame bay window. - Shutters (first & second level): Need to alter existing shutters to appear operable by being tall enough and wide enough to appear as though they would close. - Front entry door (main level): Replacing old door with new identical door that match historic standards. Current door is old, difficult to open/close, and not sufficiently weather proofed to prevent bugs and air from entering.- Balcony handrail: Replace metal & vinyl balcony railing with wood railing, painted to match existing house exterior color.- Balcony door: Adding transom to second floor balcony door to fit with the context of the house and retain the proportional relationship with the windows. Door will be brought forward to roughly the same set back as the windows.
